WHAT IS MMVV?

36th Mercat de Música Viva de Vic

WHAT IS MMVV?

Mercat de Música Viva de Vic is a professional meeting point for the music industry. It is held annually during the second week of September and, for four days, brings together professionals from the Catalan, national, and international music industry.

Its multi-stylistic nature makes it unique on the international scene, turning it into an event that offers the best of festivals in a market setting.

Since 1989, MMVV has served as a showcase for new musical projects, promoting the hiring of shows and facilitating the exchange of knowledge and experiences among industry professionals. With a clear international perspective, the Autonomous Communities, sector associations, and Catalan and state institutions find ideal conditions to shape the present and future of the live entertainment industry.

It is structured into two distinct axes: MMVV Pro Catalan Arts! and MMVV Festival.

MMVV PRO Catalan Arts!

The MMVV is part of the strategic markets of the Department of Culture of the Generalitat de Catalunya and, for this reason, falls under the Catalan Arts! brand. Its main objective is to invigorate the Catalan music sector in terms of internationalization and the creation of new audiences.

The PRO activity takes place in the Atlàntida area from Wednesday to Saturday at noon. It features different spaces and activities for professionals, including:

  • Showcases and premieres of national and international shows

  • Presentations of artistic projects (Pitchings)

  • Speed Meetings

  • Encounters between emerging companies and municipalities (Project Link)

  • Exhibition of innovative technological proposals in the musical field in collaboration with BCN Music Lab and Barcelona Music Tech Hub

  • Conferences, roundtable discussions, and presentations of musical projects

  • Assemblies and meetings of sector associations

The MMVV PRO Catalan Arts! represents the professional market segment, so access is limited to accredited professionals. The fair operates from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. From this time onward, all concerts are open to the general public.

MMVV FESTIVAL

During the MMVV weekend, the city of Vic becomes a great music festival thanks to the two outdoor stages at Plaça Major and El Sucre, which offer a more playful and festive program specifically aimed at the general public. These stages complement the rest of the active programming spaces during the days of professional activity. Renowned artists step onto the MMVV stages every year, while emerging musicians showcase their talents in different spaces, such as the OFF Mercat stage at Plaça dels Màrtirs and the streets of the city of Vic.

ACCELERADORA

This project arises from MMVV's commitment to support and engage in the most embryonic artistic creation processes. It is carried out in collaboration with one of the country's benchmarks in supporting emerging talent: La Xarxa de Cases de la Música. Through the Accelerator, the aim is to promote the musical talent of Catalonia and support new bands in their transition towards professionalism. A committee selects one of the projects from the proposals submitted through La Xarxa de Cases de la Música, providing the necessary support for professionalization, and it becomes part of the official programming of Mercat de Música Viva de Vic.
