34th Mercat de Música Viva de Vic

The Mercat de Música Viva de Vic (MMVV) is a professional meeting point for the music sector. It is held annually in the second week of September and brings together professionals from the Catalan, national and international music industry for four days.

Its multi-stylistic character makes it unique on the international scene, offering the best of festivals in a market.

Since 1989, the MMVV has served as a showcase for new music projects, encouraging the hiring of shows and allowing the sharing of knowledge and experiences between professionals in the sector. With a clear international focus, Autonomous Communities, Associations in the sector and the Catalan and state Institutions create the ideal conditions to be a reference point for the present and the future of the live music industry.

It is structured in two different lines: MMVV Pro Catalan Arts! and MMVV Festival.

MMVV PRO Catalan Arts!

The MMVV is part of the strategic markets of the Department of Culture of the Generalitat de Catalunya and is, therefore, included under the Catalan Arts! Its main objective is to boost the Catalan music sector in the internationalization and creation of new audiences.

The PRO activity is located in the Atlàntida area and runs from Wednesday to Saturday at noon. It has different spaces and activities aimed at professionals, of which the following are highlighted:

- Showcases and premieres of national and international shows

- Presentations of artistic projects (Pitchings)

- Speed Meetings

- Conferences, social gatherings and presentations of musical projects

- Assemblies and meetings of industry associations

The MMVV PRO Catalan Arts! is the professional market, therefore access is by accreditation. The fair is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., from which time, all scheduled concerts are open to the general public.

On the MMVV weekend, the city of Vic becomes a great music festival.

The Mercat erects two large-format stages with a more leisure and festive programme aimed at the general public. These are in addition to the rest of the programming areas active during the days of professional activity.

Renowned artists are present on the stages of the MMVV every year, while emerging musicians can be seen performing in the different spaces and streets of the city of Vic.

A collaborative project between the MMVV and different allied festivals to present artistic performances with MV stamp in different parts of the Catalan geography. An opportunity to create synergies with festivals in other territories and give visibility to interesting projects, which cannot perform at the Vic Live Music Market due to calendar issues.
