CALIMA was created in 2004 in Barcelona by members and musicians of different countries, cultures and ethnicities. Its founder, Juanlu 'El Canijo' was also co-founder and member of Ojos de Brujo before embarking on this project, which he is at the forefront of as bassist, artistic director and producer.
